William Spencer Musser


Biography

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, William Spencer Musser is a visual artist, theatre designer and bricoleur based in Warrensburg, Missouri. Ingrained with a passion for all of the arts; film, literature, music, theatre, East and West, Spencer Musser’s creative interests are widely focused and his work explores a wide array of subjects in a wide array of media.

Before his primary occupation as a theatre designer and Educator, Spencer Musser worked and studied as a visual artist.

When he was an undergraduate He Studied with Russell Ferguson and received his BFA in Sculpture from the Kansas City Art Institute. He received his MFA in Theatre Design & Technology from the University of Missouri in Kansas City under the Tutelage of John Ezell and Gene Friedman.

Since He Graduate in 2003 He has traveled around the United States working and Teaching Theatre Design At Theaters and Universities in Missouri, Kansas, arkansas, Illinois, New York, Vermont, Colorado and California

He currently works as the Assistant Professor of Scene Design and Technical Direction at the University of Central missouri school of visual and performing arts.

In Addition to this He works as the Set Designer and Technical Director at Opera in the Ozarks.

Outside of theatre design Spencer Musser continues to work as an artist and writer and most recently has begun exploring work on video and augmented reality projects as well as continuing drawing and painting.
